Crowborough Athletic to play home games at Maidstone United until their new 3G pitch is ready
CROWBOROUGH ATHLETIC will start their new campaign playing their home games at Maidstone United.
The Crows are converting their pitch at Fermor Road to 3G but the project’s start date was delayed and it won’t be ready for the start of the season.
The two club’s have agreed a deal for the 2017-18 campaign but the tenants have the option to give notice and return to their ground when the work is completed.
Maidstone United chief executive Bill Williams told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk: “We are very pleased to be of assistance to Crowborough Athletic while their pitch works are completed.
“They came to visit us when they were considering the move to 3G and we’ve kept in touch since.
“There have been times in the not too distant past that club’s have helped us when we’ve needed a home, so we know what it means to help another in a time of need.
“We hope Crowborough’s fans, officials and players enjoy their stay with us, however long that might be.”
During the groundshare, Maidstone United, as the senior club will have priority on all fixtures. The Crows will play on alternate Saturday, with any midweek games scheduled on a Thursday evening.
The arrangement has been approved by the National League and the Southern Counties East Football League.
A Crowborough Athletic statement, which was posted on their website, added: “The Crows are grateful to the owners and board members of the Stones for their co-operation throughout in arranging the groundshare, especially to club secretary Ian Tucker and chief executive Bill Williams, who’s help and guidance proved invaluable during the whole process.”
