Crown Alexandra moving a giant step closer to being accepted into Kent Invicta League next season

CROWN ALEXANDRA chairman Michael Day has revealed that the Dartford based club are on the verge of joining the Kent Invicta League next season.



The club, which was formed in 2007, are presently sitting in sixth-place (of eleven sides) in the fourth tier (third division) of the South London Alliance.

They play their games at Leigh Technology Academy, which is a stone’s throw away from  Dartford’s Princes Park Stadium, and there is a seated stand, similar to the ones that you have at Thamesmead Town and VCD Athletic, at the ground.

In a statement published on their club website www.crownalexandrafc.co.uk, Mr Day said, “I am delighted to announce that last week we took a giant step closer to being accepted into senior men’s football and the National Pyramid Structure at Step 6 when the Kent Invicta League Committee confirmed they have recommended our acceptance into their competition, to the FA League’s Committee, for the 2012-13 season.

“Their decision is expected around May or June when the national picture with regard to promotions and relegations has been decided.”

Mr Day added: “I am also excited to announce that funding for the remaining works on the main pitch to meet the entry criteria into the Kent Invicta League has been secured and these works are expected to be completed as soon as is practicable.

“I can also confirm that in addition to the application to the Kent Invicta League, a formal application has been submitted for a new reserve team to compete in the Kent League Division Two from 2012-13.

“I am also delighted to announce that we will continue to have a team competition in the South London Alliance.”

The Crown Alexandra chairman has unveiled that Martin Reece will leave Kent Invicta League outfit Seven Acre & Sidcup to join the club.

“Martin Reece initially takes up the appointment as head of senior football with immediate effect and first team manager in the post season in preparation for the 2012-13 season,” said Mr Day.

“Martin has already started the process of identifying his first team management team and is also approaching key targets to fill the reserve team management positions, who will report direct to him.

“Martin, who is currently first team coach at Seven Acre and Sidcup, who also ply their trade in the Kent Invicta League, has extensive contacts and experience in youth and senior football will also be taking a watching brief over our senior Sunday set up.”

Mr Day added: “Dan Hill takes up the head of youth and community post with immediate effect.  Dan has extensive experience in managing and coaching teams in the Kent Youth League, latterly Welling United under 18’s.  He is also a professional football scout. 

“Dan will work closely with Leigh Technology Academy to provide quality coaching for the Academy and establish a Saturday Soccer School, half and summer term soccer camps, not to mention oversee a completely new youth set up for Crown Alexandra Football Club.”

The club has also unveiled that Richard Pleydell (business development and commercial manager), Simon Kidby (club secretary) and Andy Kidby (head of football business), will form their committee.

Mr Day said: “Richard will be working with our existing sponsors and establishing new partnerships in the local and wider area.

“Simon comes with a wealth of experience at Step 6 and 5 levels and was the major reason Erith & Dartford Town were accepted into the Kent Invicta League for its inaugural season.

“Andy is a professional football scout who currently works closely with an Npower Championship Football Club Academy and provides opposition analysis for a number of clubs within the professional game.  He is the former head scout of Leyton Orient’s Centre of Excellence and has extensive contacts in the non-league and professional game from Academy to senior levels.

“Andy will be working closely with Martin and Dan on player recruitment, player progression, scouting and goalkeeper coaching under 16’s up to name a few of his responsibilities.

“With such a talented and experienced bunch now on board, I will take a more strategic role in the direction of the football club while continuing to dispense my Sunday football secretary responsibilities.”

Meanwhile, the club have a number of voluntary roles on offer; communication manager, club welfare office, treasurer and programme editor.

Crown Alexandra, meanwhile, play their last home league game of the season on Saturday, against Iron Tugboat City.
