Daish asks fans to donate towards his budget

Tuesday 02nd June 2009
EBBSFLEET UNITED boss Liam Daish will take charge of the team for another season, following ratification by MyFC members of the continuation of his role.

Daish had last week confirmed to the MyFC and club boards that he would like to be given the opportunity to continue his role as Fleet manager next season.

Following a vote to members asking them whether they wished to keep Daish in charge of team affairs, an overwhelming majority (93.1%) of the 2,549 who voted did so in favour of the man who has led Fleet to an FA Trophy victory and their second-highest league position of all time.

Following the vote confirmation, Daish, speaking to www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk, said: "It's really great to have the backing of the members. Now I can get down to work and start planning ahead of next season.

"A lot has been said about the playing budget and I've made no secret of the fact that it will be a struggle with funds for the squad at current levels.

"But it's encouraging to see that figure on the rise with over 300 members and supporters generously donating funds to boost my playing budget.

"I hope that more members will be able to do the same to give our team the best possible shot at what is going to be a very tough Blue Square premier league next year".

Daish took over from previous manager Andy Ford in February 2005 and will celebrate five years at Stonebridge Road during the new season.
