Daish handed extra funds through £80,000 joint-transfer deal
Wednesday 24th June 2009
EBBSFLEET UNITED boss Liam Daish has been handed extra funds to rebuild his entire team next season following the decision made by MyFootballClub members to sell a couple of his contracted players, writes Stephen McCartney. Members, who had until midday today to cast their votes, have backed the reluctant recommendation of Daish to sell highly-rated defender Darius Charles and leading striker Michael Gash for a joint total bid of £80,000, in a bid to boost the Blue Square Premier club’s thinly spread playing budget.
Of the 2,896 who voted, a clear majority (2,272 – more than 78%) voted to accept Monday’s £80,000 bid, which if it goes through will take the Fleet’s budget from £4,490 a week to £6,250 and closer to the minimum target of £7,000 believed to be required to compete in the Blue Square Premier.
There were 580 no votes and 44 abstentions.
This offer is now subject to the players agreeing terms with the club in question.
