Daish has done a sterling job at Fleet, says rival Evans

Wednesday 13th February 2008

CRAWLEY TOWN manager Steve Evans has spoken of his respect for Ebbsfleet United boss, Liam Daish.

The Fleet boss oversaw three straight league victories in the month of January, and in doing so was awarded manager of the month.

Evans himself led Crawley Town to three straight league victories during the same period, but was looked over by the awards panel.

Evans and Daish go head to head on Thursday evening, with the Kent club travelling to the Broadfield Stadium for the televised Blue Square Premier clash.

And Evans, speaking to Crawley Town’s website, www.crawleytownfc.net said: “The first thing I would like to do is send my congratulations to Liam Daish.

“In my opinion he has done a sterling job at Ebbsfleet United. When he took over the club it was in the doldrums, and he is one of the key reasons why they are now established as a very good Blue Square Premier outfit.

“I have a lot of respect for Liam, and I know a couple of chairman in this league that have been keen in the past to get him to their respective clubs.”

And Evans added: “I could win twenty two games in a row in one month and still not win manager of the month.

“It does not give me too many sleepless nights or causes for concern. More importantly anyone that has watched us in the last month will know we are the most exciting side in the Blue Square Premier.”
