Daish solves his defensive injury crisis

Friday 17th August 2007

Ebbsfleet United have signed former Millwall defender, Michael Bostwick, 19.

Fleet boss Liam Daish has drafted Bostwick into his squad following the loss through injury of Gary MacDonald and Neil Barrett in the opening two games of the season.

Bostwick had two spells on loan in the Conference with Crawley Town before being signed by Graham Westley for Rushden & Diamonds in the January transfer window this year.

Bostwick left Nene Park at the end of last season after the arrival of Gary Hill as manager.

"In the space of four days we have lost two key players" said Daish, speaking on the impressive looking, revamped club website at www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk

"This gives an opportunity for other players in the squad to step up and claim a place in the starting line up but we needed to bring in someone new because another serious injury would leave us stretched.

“Michael made 24 appearances for Crawley in the Conference so he knows what this league is about, and he also scored a couple of goals.

“He can provide cover at the back but he can also do a job in midfield, so he is the ideal player for us to sign right now."

The Fleet, with a win and a defeat from their opening two fixtures, travel to Rushden & Diamonds tomorrow.
