Daish upbeat going into Oxford trip

Thursday 03rd December 2009
AFTER beating Play-Off chasing Mansfield Town and second placed Stevenage Borough at Stonebridge Road in the past week, Liam Daish takes his resurgent Ebbsfleet United this weekend on arguably their toughest away test of the season - they're away at the Kassam Stadium to face Blue Square Premier League leaders Oxford United chasing an unlikely hat trick of wins, writes Mike Green.
Following their midweek win over Stevenage, Daish admitted to www.kentishfootball.co.uk:  "I'm a happy man tonight - good to have two wins on the bounce and see a happy dressing room...

Overall with the Fleet now within touching distance of the sides immediately above them, things seem to be happening and finally coming together.

"We've won our last two, but I wasn't happy at all with the way we played at AFC Wimbledon but in the three games before that we narrowly lost to Wrexham, York and Tamworth and we were in the game and unlucky not to go on and win the game!  So you could say that out of the last six games, the performances have been coming (with the exception of Wimbledon) but just haven't been getting the points on board that we should have."

Daish went on, "Its still very early and we've still got loads to do yet - its still going to be very hard - but we've just got to keep reminding the players what's getting them this bit of success - a lot of it is down to hard work – 99% hard work and 1% inspiration - we've got to keep doing that and believing - keep discipline keep remembering what we're good at and what makes us a decent side and hopefully if we keep hammering that home it might be enough

"It doesn’t get any easier at the weekend as we're at Oxford, but in all honesty, its a lot easier I tell you going there off the back of two wins rather than two defeats!

“We'll go there and approach it in exactly the same way as we've done so for on Tuesday night and so many before - we'll keep the players doing the basic things and who knows - we might just have turned the corner!
