Darron Anslow parts company with Erith & Dartford Town for a possible switch to Sevenoaks Town

ERITH & DARTFORD TOWN’S preparations for their Kent Invicta League campaign was plunged into chaos today as their new manager parted company with the club before the club’s first game in senior football, writes Stephen McCartney.

Darren Anslow left Cray Wanderers at the end of last season, guiding the reserve side to the Kent League Division One title, the Blue3 Reserve Division Cup, and they narrowly lost the Kent Intermediate Cup Final to Deal Town on penalties.

With the Wands disbanding their reserve side next season, it was believed that Anslow would take his successful side to Erith & Dartford Town as the club embark on Step Six football, having only played youth football under Dartford Town’s banner just over a year ago.

And last summer Dartford Town’s plans to merge with Kent League side Erith Town didn’t materialise, despite the name of Erith & Dartford Town appearing in the initial FA Cup and FA Vase draws, before the Dockers reverted to their original name before the Kent League season kicked off.

Erith & Dartford Town have agreed a groundsharing deal at Kent League side VCD Athletic’s Oakwood ground in Crayford in preparation of their entrance to the Kent Invicta League.

But the club’s executive committee wish to announce today that Anslow has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

A club statement said: “It has become apparent over the last 24 hours, via third parties that Mr Anslow has been offered a position with a Kent Premier League club despite assurances to the contrary making his position as first team manager at Erith & Dartford Town Football Club untenable.”

On that evidence, Anslow could be unveiled as the new manager of Safety Net Associates Kent League side Sevenoaks Town, who said on their official website last week that they were to unveil Keith Levett’s successor soon.
