Dartford saviour accepts board invite

Wednesday 29th April 2009
THE MAN who helped to bring Dartford Football Club back to the town following a fourteen-year exile has accepted the club's invitation to join the club's board in an unpaid role, writes Stephen McCartney.

Politician Jeremy Kite, funded the club's Princes Park Stadium and is a regular at both home and away games.

"I don't think it's much of a secret that I regard the return of Dartford Football Club to the town as a once in a lifetime opportunity to involve, inspire and entertain the whole community," he told www.dartfordfc.co.uk.

"I have forged great friendships with those who run the club as well as those who support it.

"Every town needs a football club and football clubs need people to volunteer and offer their time," Kite added.

"I am really looking forward to taking up this unpaid role and making whatever small contribution I can."

Dartford's co-chairman Bill Archer added that Kite has been a breath of fresh air to the club.

He said: "It is plain to everyone that Jeremy has become a firm supporter in the years since he first walked through our doors and that he has a huge commitment to the club, particularly to the work we do in the community.

"His advice, enthusiasm and vision have been invaluable and I am delighted that he is to join us as a volunteer and member of our board."
