Darts send Carter out on loan
Dartford boss Tony Burman has sent striker James Carter out on loan to Kent League side Tunbridge Wells to regain his fitness following his operation, writes Stephen McCartney.
Wells boss Martin Farnie, a former Dartford coach, and his director of football Gary Stevens, visited Dartford’s stunning Princes Park home on Tuesday night to watch Boreham Wood win a Westview Cup fourth round tie 3-0.
But Burman insists the highly-rated former Swindon Supermarine striker is still in his plans.
He told www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk: “I have allowed James Carter to sign for Tunbridge Wells as he can get quite a few 90 minute games under his belt over the coming weeks but please be assured that he is very much in my plans.”
With the club settling down in their new surroundings, Burman is relishing the chance of the whole club training at the same venue.
“This is our first full week in our new home at Princes Park,” he explained. “Although we were knocked out of the cup against a very good Boreham Wood side, there is so much to look forward to in the future to get things right on and off the field as a football club at our new ground.
“Last night one of the things that we have put in place on our new community pitch was to have all of our teams from under 13 through to the first team training on the same night.
“To me this is going to bring the management, players and coaches a lot closer together as a football club.
“This weekend the under 21’s play for the first time on the main pitch against Maidstone United and on Sunday we have a full fixture list for the first time at our new ground with the under 18’s playing on the main pitch at 11am, the under 16’s playing on the community pitch at 11am and the under 15’s kicking off at 2pm.
“Again this is another example of bringing Dartford Football Club a lot closer together as we can all take an interest in how all of our teams are performing.”
Midfielder Eddie McClements has recovered from his dead leg for tomorrow’s trip to Cray Wanderers.
12-goal striker Jay May (back) has been added to the squad along with Nick Barnes and Lew Watts who missed the Boreham Wood defeat as they were cup tied.
Burman added: “I realise that the expectation over the last week and in the future will be sky high as we strive to get the results that we want.
“Hopefully we will have many new supporters who have only seen then team in the last week but they must understand that we cannot run before we can walk and that the rise to the next level on and off the field will take a little bit of time.”
