Thursday 02nd February 2012
DEAL TOWN are to recognise the contribution of former players and managers by making them life members of the club.

The Kent Hurlimann Football League club are delighted to announce that they are looking to introduce a programme to offer Life Memberships of the club to former players and managers who served the club so loyally in the past.

Communications Director, Phillip Moore told the club’s revamped website www.pitchero.com/clubs/dealtown :   "We want to recognise the past contribution of players and managers to Deal Town FC by giving life memberships of the club, which will include free entry via a membership card to all home games.

“In addition, we aim to have a "wall of fame" in the new clubhouse where we have archive photos of past greats.”

The names being mentioned so far include past players including Bryan Hardy, Jimmy Law, Colin Gilmore, Alan Barrow amongst many others and former managers Tommy Sampson who guided the club to FA Vase glory in 2000, Brisbane resident Jimmy Nokes and Willie Herron.

Mr Moore added: We want to see as many of these former players as can attend regularly at home games, where they can meet up with old acquaintances and replay memories of past matches.

“Suggestions as to who we should invite to be the first inductees to our own Hall of Fame and offer Life Memberships to can do so via the forum.

“We hope to award the first batch of life memberships at the free entry home game against Fisher on 11th February.”

The club are under the new chairmanship of Dayle Melody and he has announced the first of new initiatives intended to move the club forward.

The first of these is to be a game that will be free entry to all - scheduled for Saturday 11th February against Fisher, who are managed by Steve Firkins.

Mr Dayle said: “We had always intended to throw our doors open to the public of Deal to thank them for their unstinting support during the dark days after the fire in October.

“We thought that by offering everyone the chance to come and watch us in this game free of charge, we would go some way towards repaying the generosity and warmth shown to the club recently.

“We look forward to welcoming supporters old and new and hope we can show everyone what a friendly and community orientated club we are.

“Also on that day, we will be welcoming the newly elected Carnival Queen and her attendants in their first public appearance of the year, thanks to our long standing relationship with John Trickey of DWKRA. Other events will be happening on the day that we will announce nearer the time.”
