Dean Harrison was the stand-out candidate in a really impressive field, says Fisher chairman

Highly-rated Harrison, who is UEFA B licenced, has extensive coaching experience and leaves bitter-rivals Beckenham Town, where he was assistant manager to Jason Huntley at Eden Park Avenue and sitting in fifth-place in the table.

Fisher chairman Ben Westmancott welcomed Harrison to the club.

“Dean was the stand-out candidate in a really impressive field and I am sure that he will prove to be a successful and popular appointment,” he said.

“As well as strong coaching credentials in senior football, Dean has a wealth of experience in working in community football including six years at Millwall FC Community Scheme.

"This will be invaluable as we look to ensure that our new home on Salter Road becomes a real hub for community football.”

Mr Westmancott was quick to pay tribute to caretaker player-manager Junior James, who steered the club through the last few weeks.

Fisher have lost their last five games and have gone eight games without a win and are three points clear of bottom-side Deal Town, who have two games in hand on The Fish.

He said: “Junior’s commitment and professional approach over the last three games has been enormously impressive.

“He clearly has a very bright coaching future ahead of him – as well as remaining a very dangerous striker!

“I would like to put on record the thanks of the board and supporters for the effort he put in during a difficult period for the club.”

Harrison’s first game in charge will be against Sevenoaks Town on Saturday, 6 December.

Fisher sit in the bottom three (eighteenth) in the Southern Counties East Football League table, having won four, drawn two and lost eleven of their league games this season.

The club started the campaign with Simon Halsey and Billy Walton as joint-managers, but the pair ouldn’t steer the club away from the wrong end of the table.
