Dockers boss O'Boyle wants glamour tie

Thursday 10th September 2009
JAMIE KEMPSTER is set to make his Erith Town debut in Saturday’s home FA Cup tie against Aylesbury, writes Stephen McCartney.

The experienced midfielder has signed on dual-registration terms from Ryman Premier League side Cray Wanderers, and Dockers boss Steve O’Boyle is delighted to hand him his debut in the first qualifying round clash.

“Jamie goes straight into the side,” O’Boyle told www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight.  “He’s a quality player, obviously he’s won the Vase at Wembley with Deal (in 2000), he’s won the Kent League with Cray and obviously he won promotion from the Ryman South last year and he’s Cray Wanderers’ captain.

O’Boyle says he wants his side to stamp their authority on the game from the very first whistle against their Buckinghamshire opponents.

“Aylesbury knocked out Leighton Town in the last round from a step above, so they must be a decent side,” warned the former Thamesmead Town reserve team boss.

“It will be a hard game.  I want us to start quickly, as against Greenwich Borough the other night we started slowly and finished the game really strongly, so we need to start quick on Saturday.  We want to catch them cold early doors.

“We’ve been at home in the last two games so hopefully we can use that to our advantage and hopefully have a decent performance and go through.”

O’Boyle, who is without the services of Drew Watkins (wedding), Alan Hanlon (suspended) and Ted Hart (broken foot) and will give influential defender Dean Kearley (knee) a fitness test ahead of the game, wants to travel in the next round.

“It would be nice to get through and pit yourself against a decent side, hopefully a nice tie away from home would be nice against a big club,” said O’Boyle.

“There’s no point looking that far - Aylesbury will be a hard side to beat but if we play like we have done then we’ve got a chance.”
