Dover Athleic boss Martin Hayes signs another Diamond

Friday 24th June 2011
DOVER ATHLETIC boss Martin Hayes has pulled off a transfer coup today by signing highly-rated Rushden & Diamonds vice-captain and midfielder Michael Corcoran, writes Justin Allen.

Corcoran, 23, was being chased by a number of clubs and has opted to go part-time with Dover with a view of a quickfire return to the Blue Square Premier.

Hayes told www.doverathletic.com: "I see this has a bit of a coup if I'm perfectly frank.

"I've been in touch with Michael for some time now. He's a leader and great ball-playing central midfielder - and yet again we're not busting the bank to bring him here.

"It just shows that it's not about money. These lads we've brought in are not on any more money than the lads who decided to leave - and have signed because they're ambitious. They've bought into what we are trying to do here.

"Now we are only looking for a striker - and once we have that player in place, we're pretty much ready to go."
