Dover terminate Davis' contract

Tuesday 26th January 2010
TOM DAVIS is seeking pastures new after his contract with Dover Athletic was terminated by mutual consent this morning, writes Justin Allen.

The midfielder, signed from AFC Wimbledon, found it difficult to settle at Crabble and was unable to establish a regular place in the team.

Whites boss Andy Hessenthaler told www.doverathletic.com: "Tom goes with sincere best wishes. It's just unfortunate that things haven't quite worked out as we all wanted.

"But the bottom line is Tom needs to be playing first-team football and I couldn't really offer it to him here.

"So we're sat down, had a chat about it and both decided it was best for all parties if he leaves the club.

"He will find a good club I am sure as he's a good player.

"It's one of those things that happens in football. Sometimes it just doesn't go as well as you hoped when moving to a new club or signing a player."

Meanwhile, Hess has not had any luck bringing in a new central defender.

He said: "No-one wants to come at the moment.

"But Olly Schulz is definitely fit for the Stevenage match and Dean Hill is also available - so that is very good news."
