Dulwich Hamlet assistant manager Junior Kadi: Our main focus is to get the team right and once we get it right I beleive results will come

DULWICH HAMLET assistant manager Junior Kadi says there’s plenty of time to start rising towards the play-off zone.

Gavin Rose’s side are in a disappointing midtable position in the Ryman Premier League table after recording two wins, two draws and two defeats in the league.  They are 10 points adrift of league leaders Leiston and only three points behind fifth-placed side Bognor Regis Town.

Dulwich Hamlet came away from Southern Combination League side Pagham with a 3-0 win to kick-off their FA Cup campaign last Saturday.

“It was hard because you’re going into the unknown,” said Kadi.

“The pitch wasn’t the greatest. Pagham are going to give it a go but I think the boys put in a professional performance. We got the goals at the right times as well and it kind of made the game a lot more comfortable for us.”

Dulwich Hamlet have been rewarded with a home Second Qualifying Round tie against Hendon.  Gary McCann’s side currently sit in seventeenth-place in the Ryman Premier League table.

Kadi said: “It will be good to see Gazza again.  I think Hendon with Gary are always a good team, they always work hard.  They’ve got good players.

“We went up there and drew 1-1 on Bank Holiday Monday and it was quite a tight game.  I thought first half they shaded it, I thought second half we shaded it.

“We’re at home so in front of our crowd, hopefully we can progress.”

Dulwich Hamlet host tenth-placed Burgess Hill Town – who have the same playing record as the hosts – on Saturday.

“Early stage of the season, we’re trying to get our guys understanding how we play and get them more used to our style of play and what we want from them,” said Kadi.

“As the teams revolving and developing you want to pick up as many points as you can on that journey.  We’ll work hard in training this week and do a few bits and pieces and hopefully we’ll put it in place on Saturday against Burgess Hill.”

Dulwich Hamlet finished in fifth-place last season and lost 3-1 at East Thurrock United in the play-off final.

“It’s early doors. I’m not overly concerned about league tables and stuff at this stage of the season,” said Kadi.

“It’s just the boys understanding and getting things right. People’s fitness levels are still coming up and what not so we’ve been beaten by the odd goal and things like that so a chance here or there our place could’ve been higher or could’ve been lower so our main focus is to get the team right and once we get the team right I believe results will come.

“At the end of the day all we want to try and do is try to improve and that’s the whole club.  You can see the fan-base is phenomenal and we try to play the right way.  Last year we were short in the final so we’ll give it our best and try to improve on that.”
