Bitter rivals Tooting & Mitcham United aid Dulwich Hamlet in their hour of need

CRISIS CLUB Dulwich Hamlet have secured a groundshare deal at Tooting & Mitcham United until the end of the season.

The Hamlet have hit the headlines in recent weeks over their long-running battle with their landlords, who have locked them out of their Champion Hill Stadium in East Dulwich.

The club were in talks with three clubs but their bitter rivals Tooting & Mitcham United have offered use of their Imperial Fields home in Morden.

Dulwich Hamlet chairman Liam Hickey told the club website: “We’re delighted to announce we’ve found a home for the rest of the season.”

Tooting & Mitcham United chairman Steve Adkins said: “We are delighted to announce that Tooting & Mitcham United have agreed to host Dulwich Hamlet for the last few games of the season in the event that they are unable to continue playing at Champion Hill.  We are pleased to be able to help a fellow club within the Isthmian League.

“We do very much hope that Dulwich will be able to resolve their issues speedily and we wish the club all the very best in their endeavours.”

Gavin Rose’s men will host Worthing in their new surroundings on Sunday 18 March.

Dulwich Hamlet are in second-place in the Bostik Premier Division table with 69 points from 35 games, a point behind surprise package and new leaders Folkestone Invicta, but with a couple of games in hand on Neil Cugley’s men.

The club are appealing for match-day volunteers, including 12^th man bucket shakers, four turnstile operators and at least six stewards.
