Dulwich Hamlet fans part-fund the transfer coup of Margate striker Ryan Moss
DULWICH HAMLET manager Gavin Rose has pulled off a transfer coup by signing striker Ryan Moss from Vanarama National League South side Margate.
The signing is being partly funded by the 12th Man Scheme, a supporter-led initiative to raise money to increase the playing budget.
Manager Rose, speaking to the club’s website, said: “Ryan Moss is a signing that will capture the imagination of our supporters. We were very keen to sign him but couldn’t have done so without the extra financial support provided by the 12th Man Scheme.”
Moss is a prolific striker in the Ryman Premier League, scoring 25 goals for Kingstonian during season 2013-14, before joining Terry Brown at Margate and netting 19 times in their promotion winning campaign last season, including the only goal of the game in the play-off final against Hendon.
The signing comes as Calum Willock leaves Champion Hill.
Willock joined in August and he was entirely funded by the 12th Man Scheme during his time at the club.
He scored seven goals in 19 appearances for the Hamlet, including four goals in his first four games.
Rose said: “Calum made a fantastic contribution to our club in the time he was with us and was also a great person to have in the dressing room.
“I’d like to wish him every success and I’m sure he has a long-term future in football well beyond his playing days.”
There has been interest from a number of other Ryman League teams that are interested in signing Willock.
The 12th Man Scheme has been running for over three years and has raised over £25,000, every penny of which has been spent on additional signings for the club.
As well as Willock and Moss, the scheme was responsible for the loan signing of Rhys Murrell-Williamson, who this week committed to Dulwich Hamlet for the remainder of the season.
It’s top-versus-bottom on Saturday as Dulwich Hamlet welcome their Ryman Premier League rivals VCD Athletic to Champion Hill Stadium on Saturday to contest a FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round tie.
Keith McMahon has taken charge of 23 games at the Crayford based club this season and their only win of the season was to beat Staines Town 2-1 in the previous round a couple of weeks ago.
