Ebbsfleet United part company with boss Steve Brown

Wednesday 26th November 2014
EBBSFLEET UNITED have confirmed that manager Steve Brown has parted company with the club.

The news comes after the club suffered a 3-0 defeat to Gosport Borough at Stonebridge Road last night.

The Fleet are in fourth-place in the Vanarama Conference South table with eight wins, five draws and five defeats.

They are seven points adrift of league leaders Boreham Wood and chairman Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi issued an 32-word statement on the club’s website to confirm the departure.

He said: “I feel that the team needs a change of direction.  I would like to thank Steve for all his efforts on behalf of the club and wish him well for the future.”

Brown, 42, spent 12 years at Charlton Athletic as a player between 1990-2002, before spending three years at Reading.

Brown guided Ebbsfleet United to a fourth-placed finish in Conference South last season.

The Fleet defeated third-placed finishers Bromley 4-1 on aggregate in the play-off semi-finals, but went down to a 1-0 home defeat to Dover Athletic in the play-off final, days after beating Chris Kinnear’s side to win the Kent Senior Cup.

The Fleet are at home to Ryman Premier League side Hendon in The FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round on Saturday.
