England international settles his future here in Kent

Thursday 14th February 2008

LANCE CRONIN, 22, has signed a contract extension to keep him at Ebbsfleet United until the end of the 2009-10 season.

The goalkeeper joined the Fleet in August 2006 in something of an emergency following a long-term injury to existing goalkeeper Craig Holloway and has since cemented his place at number one.

The former Crystal Palace youth player won international honours in his first season with the Fleet, being selected for the England National XI (now 'C' team), a position he has laid further claim to this season. Lance has played 73 games for the Fleet already since arriving from a brief spell at Shrewsbury Town.

In an emailed message to MyFootballClub members, Fleet boss Liam Daish also spoke of his own previously announced contract extension, commenting: "The support that you and all the MyFC members have given the lads and my coaching staff over the last few months is very much appreciated. Our noisy away following has grown and it's also great to see attendances on the up at Stonebridge Road. Long may this continue.

"As you know, I've committed myself to the club for another year. And I'm delighted to be the first to tell you that our goalkeeper Lance Cronin has agreed to sign for another two seasons.

“I'm confident that a few more of the lads will be extending their contracts soon, and it's also encouraging that over 1,800 of you have already extended for two or more years."
