Erith & Belvedere begin search for new secretary

ERITH & BELVEDERE are looking to recruit a new football secretary, following Frank May’s resignation last week.Mr May handed in his resignation (which was accepted) after the club were thrown out of Sunday’s Umbro Kent Senior Trophy Final for fielding an ineligible player, Michael Abnett, who played in a previous round against Cray Valley (Paper Mills) without international clearance.
Sevenoaks Town will face Kent Invicta League side Hollands & Blair in the final at Park View Road on Sunday (3pm), after Paul Piggott’s side won their second-chance tussle against Cray Valley (Paper Mills) last weekend.
A club statement outlined the criteria needed to become Mr May’s successor at Park View Road.
“The club is looking to recruit a new football secretary to liaise with other clubs and League and FA officials, to handle player registration and to administer the day-to-day running of the club.
“The successful applicant will need to be computer literate and enjoy working with players and officials from this club and others.
“You will also be contributing where possible to the club’s interactive services (website, Facebook, Twitter).
Meanwhile, programme editor, Brian Spurrell will be temporarily taking over the running of the club website and Facebook page, but insisted he will not be taking on the role on permanently.
Mr May issued the following statement, to explain why he has stepped down from his role.
He said: “Following recent events at the football club, it is with much sadness and a heavy heart, that I have decided to resign from my position as director and football secretary of Erith & Belvedere Football Club with immediate effect.
“I wish the club and its supporters the very best of luck in the future, on and off the playing field, and I hope to catch up with you all at a match in the near future.”
