Erith & Dartford Town unveil new management team for next season
Wednesday 16th March 2011
ERITH & Dartford Town chairman Roy MacNeil is delighted to announce the appointment of a new management team.
Darren Anslow, Martin Barnard and Steve Sallis have been appointed manager, assistant manager and first team coach respectively as of next season.
Anslow and Barnard currently manage Cray Wanderers’ reserve team, the champions elect in Kent League Division One.
Anslow is also Cray Wanderers’ full time Academy Manager, holds a UEFA B FA Coaching Badge and is studying for his UEFA A.
His playing career included Erith & Belvedere and Fisher Athletic amongst others. He commenced his coaching career at the club’s under 18’s, progressing through to reserve team manager in January last year.
In a statement, Anslow said: “What drew me to the job was the idea of being involved in building something from the beginning, and after speaking to the chairman, I immediately knew I would be joining a club with an ambition that matched that of me and my staff.”
Barnard is well known in youth circles having managed Cray Wanderers’ under 16’s and under 18’s before becoming Anslow’s assistant manager last year. He also holds a UEFA B FA Coaching Badge.
Sallis, also a UEFA B badge holder, is currently plying his trade in the Kent League Premier Division with Fisher.
He commenced his playing career at Brighton & Hove Albion, moving onto spells with Crawley Town and Maidstone United amongst others.
Sallis has also held various assistant managerial positions including Lingfield in the Sussex County League and Croydon.
Chairman Roy MacNeil said of the appointments, “I was delighted and somewhat overwhelmed by the response to my trawl for a senior management team, the quality of applicant was extremely high.
“In Darren, Martin and Steve I have a quality coaching outfit whose collective experience, skills and contacts are immense which will stand Erith & Dartford Town Football Club in good stead for many years to come.”
The chairman added: “I’ve been fortunate enough to catch a couple of Cray Wanderers matches this season and their style of play is very much the way we like to play at my club, the fact they are in a fantastic position to win Kent League Division One, secured a place in the Kent Intermediate Cup Final on Saturday by beating Bearsted 4-0 and have a two legged Semi Final against Thamesmead imminent, is testament to the drive and high standards set by the management team.”
There were rumours circulating at Fisher’s game against Tunbridge Wells on Monday that the club were going to apply for the Kent League top-flight next season.
Mr MacNeil said: “This was first of a series of on and off the field announcements regarding the short, medium and long-term of Erith and Dartford Town Football Club.”
