Erith Town part company with father-and-son managerial team Martin and Joe Ford after 15 months at the helm
ERITH TOWN begin the search for a new management team today after the news that father-and-son duo Martin and Joe Ford have left the club.
The Dockers finished their Southern Counties East Football League campaign in thirteenth-place this season, having won 12, drawn 7 and lost 17 of their 36 league games this season.
A club statement said: “Erith Town have today parted company with joint managers Martin Ford and Joe Ford by mutual consent.
“The father and son team joined the Dockers in February 2015 with the club in a relegation fight.
“Despite being seven points adrift with three games remaining they steered the Dockers to safety with a final day win at Crowborough Athletic.
“Having led the League after ten games of 2015-16 we eventually finished thirteenth after winning three and drawing two of the final six games.
“Erith Town would like to place on record their thanks to Martin and Joe for all their hard work over the past fifteen months and wish them every success in the future.
“The club will be making no further comment at this moment in time.”
Meanwhile, Erith Town are delighted to announce that their proposed groundshare at VCD Athletic’s Oakwood ground in Crayford has been approved by the Ryman League and the Southern Counties East Football League.
The Dockers added: “This means that the club will return to the Borough of Bexley for the 2016-17 season under an initial two-year tenancy.
“The club explored a number of options but ultimately decided that Oakwood represented the best way forward for the club.
“Erith Town would like to thank not only the directors of VCD Athletic but also other parties for their help in this process.”
