We want to win to keep our season alive, says Erith Town's joint-manager Joe Ford

ERITH TOWN joint-manager Joe Ford says he is looking forward to getting back to action at Corinthian tomorrow.

The Dockers have not played since losing 2-0 at home to Fisher on 16 January and travel to Corinthian in the Kent Reliance Senior Trophy Quarter-Finals tomorrow.

Erith Town have dropped to tenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table due to their inactivity on 28 points from 19 games and everyone else in the division apart from Beckenham Town have played more games.

“We are all looking forward to finally playing a competitive game tomorrow after a few weeks off due to postponements at Badgers,” said Ford.

“We are looking at tomorrow’s game as a game that we want to win to keep our season alive.

“The game has now been switched to Corinthian’s which will no doubt provide both sides with a better playing surface and it should be a good game.

“In terms of results we have had a bad time over the past couple of months and have not really been able to get going.

“There is nothing worse than losing a game and then having to wait for two weeks before you can play again and unfortunately that’s been the case for the last few months.

“I’m not one to make excuses as I feel we have under achieved of late, however, injuries and suspensions have not helped matters but we have worked very hard over the last 10 days to bring in some lads that will hopefully turn things around.”

Right-back/winger Ehis Izokhun has joined the club from Chatham Town, centre half Emmnauel Nwanze has come in and his previous clubs include Welling United and Harlow.  Former Cray Wanderers and Phoenix defender Helge Orome has also signed forms and will play when available and lastly Owen Price has joined the club on loan from Cray Wanderers.

“We have also made an acquisition to our back-room staff and have appointed former Lordswood player Richard Styles to our staff,” revealed Ford.

“He will bring lots of experience to us and will work closely with both the players, Martin (Ford) and myself.”
