Hopefully we can continue our recent progress, says Erith Town joint-boss Ricky Bennett

Thursday 17th November 2016

ERITH TOWN joint-manager Ricky Bennett says he is looking forward to the visit of free-scoring Sheppey United on Saturday.

Ernie Batten’s side have won their last two games 4-3 away from home, against Whitstable Town in the league and at Fisher in the Macron Southern Counties East Football League Challenge Cup Second Round on Tuesday night.

The Dockers, meanwhile, have picked up four points from their last couple of games, pleasing Bennett.

He said :”We’re very pleased with the last two results, but more importantly, the performances and character shown by the boys has given us a massive boost after some poor results.

“Our last game against a decent Rochester side, where we came back to win the game 4-2, and also the previous game where we came back to draw 2-2 with another decent side in Hollands & Blair, have shown us that the young un's we have are learning what's needed to compete and how to stay in games to go along with the talent that they have.

“It's also pleasing to get a couple of the more senior players back from long term injuries which hopefully helps us as we look to climb the table.

“Ideally we would have liked a game last Saturday to try and keep the momentum going but we're looking forward to the visit of Sheppey United this Saturday as they have proved so far that they are more than capable of challenging for the League this season and hopefully they bring a load of their many fans along with them to give the game a bit of an atmosphere.

“This game, as are all in this league, will be another difficult game but hopefully we can continue our recent progress.”
