Essex side launch initiative

Wednesday 22nd October 2008

CANVEY ISLAND will be showing their support towards the Lets Kick Racism Out Of Football “One Game, One Community” nationwide initiative on Saturday during their home clash against Ryman Premier League leaders Dover Athletic.

Players from both clubs will be joining club officials, supporters and youth players in proudly displaying the “One Game, One Community” logo via warm-up t-shirts, badges and leaflets.

Canvey Island secretary, Gary Sutton, told www.canveyislandfc.com: “We are delighted to be involved in such a key nationwide initiative.

“As a community led club we are passionate about ensuring all members of the community whatever their origins, culture or religion enjoys supporting the club and being involved with football.”

Canvey Island and Dover Athletic are the only two Ryman Premier League clubs taking part in this scheme.

Meanwhile, the Essex side missed out on earning a trip to Dover Athletic on the first day of next month, in the second qualifying round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy, as they lost to Cambridge City on penalties, after a goal-less draw after 120 minutes of football on Tuesday night.
