FA Carlsberg Trophy Third Qualifying Round Revised Draw
The draw involving Kent sides is as follows:
Swindon Supermarine (British Gas Business Premier) v Bromley (Blue Square South)
St Albans City (Blue Square South) v Dartford (Ryman Premier)
Cray Wanderers (Ryman One South) v Brackley Town (British Gas Business Premier)
Ramsgate (Ryman Premier) v Bognor Regis Town (Blue Square South)
Welling United (Blue Square South) v AFC Totton (British Gas Business Division One South & West)
Ties will take place on Saturday, 22nd November.
Holders Ebbsfleet United, who won the competition by beating fellow Blue Square Premier rivals Torquay United 1-0 at Wembley Stadium in May, begin their defence of the Trophy in the first round proper, which kicks off on Saturday, 13th December.
DOVER ATHLETIC boss Andy Hessenthaler wants his side to finish off the job when they lock horns with Cambridge City again at Perrys Crabble Stadium on Tuesday night.
Chipstead referee, Nigel Lugg, abandoned Saturday’s FA Carlsberg Trophy Second Qualifying Round tie after 53 minutes, due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Kent side were leading 2-0 at the time, courtesy of John Keister and Lawrence Ball scoring their first goals of the season, which are now wiped out.
With a home tie against Hastings United up for grabs in the third and final qualifying round later in the month, Hessenthaler, speaking to BBC Radio Kent, wants his side to play their Ryman Premier League rivals in the next round.
“It’s always frustrating especially when you’re winning 2-0 but what can you do,” he said.
“I feel sorry for the fans, they’ve come here, paid their money and wanted to see a game.
“In the end it was abandoned early. We’ve got to get on with that, we’ve got to respect his decision and look forward to the game Tuesday night and hopefully finish the job then.”
A crowd of 652 braved the conditions at Perrys Crabble on Saturday and Hessenthaler urges them to return to support his boys for the rematch.
“I feel sorry for the fans as they wanted to see the game finished,” he said. “All I say to them is to come back on Tuesday night and get behind the boys like they did (on Saturday) and let’s hope we’ll get the job done for them.”
DARTFORD will travel to sixth placed Blue Square South outfit St Albans City - if they win their replay at Oxford City on Tuesday night.
The Darts threw away a 3-1 lead and had to settle for a 3-3 draw at Princes Park on Saturday, as their British Gas Business Premier opponents scored from two headers from set-pieces.
Co-chairman, Dave Skinner, meanwhile, is confident his club will be making the trip to Clarence Park in the third and final qualifying round.
But making the 96mile trip to Marsh Place Farm Stadium will be a logistical problem for the Darts, as Mr Skinner explained, when speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk following the six-goal thriller.
“We’ve got to leave here at 4:15pm and obviously the players will have to take a lot of time off work to make sure they get here for 4:15pm," he said.
“We’ve been there once before in the FA Youth Cup many years ago, it’s the only time I remember being there, but particularly our away from at the moment we go there confident.”
But Mr Skinner admits he is not looking any further than Tuesday night’s replay, putting the potential trip to St Albans City to the back of his mind.
“I’m not looking any further than Tuesday,” he said. “Alright we’ll know who the winners will take in the next round. There’s no point looking any further than Tuesday.”
UPDATED AFTER TUESDAY NIGHT'S GAMES:
Dover Athletic were knocked out by Cambridge City, losing 3-2, whilst Dartford came away from Oxford City with a 4-2 victory.
