Fans raise funds for Bring The Stones Home campaign

Sunday 28th February 2010
FOURTEEN Maidstone United supporters walked 22 miles from Maidstone to Ashford yesterday and more than 100 people enjoyed an evening with Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs, as part of a fundraising double whammy.

The Bring The Stones Home campaign held two fundraising events yesterday.  In the early hours of the morning, 14 supporters left James Whatman Way and headed along the A20 towards the club’s temporary home - Homelands Stadium in Ashford.

The following supporters were thanked for their endeavours:  Tom Philpot, Steph Griffith, Amanda Richards, John Constable, Darren Manser, Dan Payne, Shakey, Richard 'Butch' Nott, Nigel Tyler, Dale Prosser, Steve Pay, Stuart Mills, Nigel Delo and Nigel Threadgill.

A special thanks to Richard 'Butch' Nott for organising the walk and all those who helped the walkers along the route.

In the evening, more than 100 people turned out to see Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs at Rianos on Tonbridge Road.

The event was organised by Angela Reed and members of the campaign's ME16 sub committee. Thanks for all those who supported the evening.

Fundraising campaign chairman Peter Philpot told www.bringingthestoneshome.co.uk  "It was great to have two high profile fundraisers on the same day. It really shows the dedication and enthusiasm that Stones supporters have to bring their club home.

“I would like to thank all the walkers for all their efforts and the team that organised the Hobo Jones evening."

Unfortunately, on-the-pitch, the Stones were defeated 3-0 by Harrow Borough, a result that leaves the club two places - and three points - above the relegation zone with 14 games to go.
