Nick Davis goes to VCD Athletic with the blessing and best wishes of everybody at Faversham Town, says manager James Collins

FAVERSHAM TOWN manager James Collins has wished his assistant Nick Davis the best of luck after taking over from Keith McMahon at their Isthmian League South East Division rivals VCD Athletic yesterday.

 

Collins brought the former Sittingbourne and Ramsgate manager to Salters Lane as his number two when he took charge of the club in November 2019.

“Nick goes with the blessing and best wishes of everybody at Faversham Town,” said Collins in a statement.

“He is naturally ambitious and has been given the opportunity to be a number one and he was right to take the role.

“I’d like to thank Nick for all the help he has given me and the players here.  We all valued the contribution he made in the early stages of our project to take this club forward.

“He told me that he was in the running for the VCD job and I’m really pleased for him – even though it means I’ll have to use a lot more petrol driving myself to training.

“I’m sure he’ll make a tremendous success of his new role and I look forward to welcoming him back to Faversham with his new club.

“It won’t change much at Faversham Town. We’re in a good place with our preparations for the new season.

“I’m not going to rush to appoint another assistant manager. We are in a good place. I’m surrounded by good and talented people and I shall take stock and take a look at what would best help the team.”

McMahon guided VCD Athletic to eighth-place in the table, while Faversham Town were in the bottom four at the time of the coronavirus health pandemic, which brought playing football to a halt in March.

Every club now wants to have confirmation from The Football Association when the 2020-21 football season will begin.
