Cameron Williams is one of the final pieces of Faversham Town jigsaw, says boss James Collins
FAVERSHAM TOWN manager James Collins says he has fought off several other clubs for the signature of versatile Maidstone United Academy captain Cameron Williams.
The 18-year-old can play in the centre of midfield or in the heart of defence and gained valuable experience playing for Crowborough Athletic in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division last season.
“I’m really happy that Cameron has chosen to sign for us this season,” said Collins.
“He had a number of options because there were plenty of managers keen to sign him, so we’ve had to fight off a few clubs for his signature.
“He was in and around the Maidstone squad last season and was highly recommended to us.
“Since he’s arrived, he’s looked like a real find and has impressed during the (training) sessions we have had.
“He’s an exciting player to have at the club and one of the final pieces in our jigsaw with the starting gun to the beginning of the new season now fired.”
The Isthmian League has confirmed that the 2020-21 season is scheduled to start on Saturday 19 September 2020.
