Faversham Town boss James Collins retains Luke Watkins and Kelvin Ogboe
FAVERSHAM TOWN manager James Collins has retained two of his players ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, which could get underway in September.
Highly-rated goalkeeper Luke Watkins and winger Kelvin Ogboe, 22, will be staying at Salters Lane next season.
Watkins made 35 appearances last season after joining from their Isthmian League South East Division rivals Ramsgate last summer, keeping eight clean sheets.
“I’m really pleased that Luke has agreed to sign for the coming season,” Collins told the club website.
“As a manager, the goalkeeper is a position where you really want reliability and Luke gives us that. He kept us in games last season with some fantastic saves.
“He’s a big influence in the dressing room, a great example to younger player and a firm favourite with supporters.
“Luke is vastly experienced at this level, he’s now entering his prime in goalkeeping years so I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet.”
Ogboe scored a hat-trick in the 3-3 draw against Herne Bay and netted 15 goals for Faversham Town and previous club VCD Athletic before the season was cut short in March due to the coronavirus health pandemic.
“I’m absolutely delighted that we have retained Kelvin’s services,” said Collins.
“He scored four goals in his seven appearances for us, including a memorable hat-trick before the season came to an abrupt end.
“He’s the sort of exciting, attacking player that supporters like to see and can cause any defence problems.”
