Faversham Town appoint Sammy Moore and Darren Beale as their third management team of the season
FAVERSHAM TOWN have appointed Sammy Moore and Darren Beale as their third management team of the season.
The Lilywhites are rooted to the foot of the Isthmian League South East Division table with seven points from 16 games.
The pair have departed Isthmian League Premier Division leaders Potters Bar Town today to take over at Salters Lane.
Moore, 35, who has previously played for Ipswich Town, Brentford, Stevenage Borough, Dover Athletic, AFC Wimbledon, Leatherhead, Concord Rangers and Folkestone Invicta, manages his first club in his native Kent, having previously managed Leatherhead, Concord Rangers, Hemel Hempstead Town and Potters Bar Town.
Chairman Gary Smart said in a statement: “As a board, we could not have been more delighted that Sammy, Darren and their back room staff have accepted our new challenges and goals for Faversham Town.
“After looking into what Sammy and Darren have achieved together with Leatherhead, Concord Rangers, Hemel Hempstead Town, but more recently doing a magnificent job at Porters Bar Town, where he has taken them from the relegation zone in January of this year to 13th position at the end of last season, building a team in the close season who are currently top of the Isthmian Premier in a short space of time, this was the manager that we wanted.
“This shows all people connected with Faversham Town of our commitment to bring in the very best people to assist us with this new exciting project.
“This appointment shows a massive statement of our intensions for the Lilywhites.
“Sammy and his team understand the objectives ahead and are fully committed to the project and comes into the club on a long-term commitment.
“The board are sure that we have got the right men in to progress the club forward with the experience of managing in all levels of the Isthmian League.”
Moore said: “After meeting the chairman it was very clear to see there is a huge project here and a clear vision for success.
“It’s been no secret we wanted to come back to Kent and be closer to the family but we felt it had to be the right club and the right fit. With the new 3G pitch going down next season there is a real excitement around the place.”
Faversham Town face a massive six-pointer at home to Corinthian on Saturday (15:00).
Michael Golding’s side are second-from-bottom with eight points from their 15 games and Faversham Town are 10 points adrift of safety, taking goal-difference into account.
“We come into the club in a very difficult position and we know we have a huge task ahead of us,” admitted Folkestone resident Moore.
“But we as a management team are confident in our own ability and experience that results and smiles on faces are just around the corner.
“I really look forward to meeting everyone soon and please get behind us as we have a huge 22 games and your support is vital both home and away.”
Assistant manager Beale, formerly of Herne Bay, of course, added: “The chairman has sold the vision on a positive way and the future sounds bright.
“We realise how difficult the job will be to get the team out of the position it currently finds itself in but having found ourselves in a similar position last February at Potters Bar, we feel we are the right management team to achieve this.”
Faversham Town started the campaign with former Herne Bay pair John Embery and Jermaine Darlington in joint-charge but they lasted 13 games, with three wins, two draws and eight defeats.
Simon Austin lasted 10 games and won two and lost eight of his games during his 40 days in charge of the side that are currently involved in a relegation dog-fight.
