We’ve had Haringey watched and I’m expecting a really hard game, says Faversham Town boss James Collins

FAVERSHAM TOWN manager James Collins says he’s expecting a really hard game against Haringey Borough tomorrow.

The Lilywhites welcome the Isthmian League Premier Division side to Salters Lane in The FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round.

Collins’ side are unbeaten in their six league games with three wins and three draws from six games and are sitting in fifth-place in the Isthmian League South East Division table.

They claimed a 1-0 home win over VCD Athletic on Tuesday night, courtesy of former Vicker Kelvin Ogboe scoring the only goal of the game in the 40th minute.

The Faversham boss is keen to see how far his side have come since losing 5-0 at another Isthmian Premier Division side, Carshalton Athletic, in The FA Cup First Qualifying Round on Monday 21 September.

“We’ve had Haringey watched and I’m expecting a really hard game,” said Collins, whose side have let in three goals in the league this season.

“It will be interesting because if we were going to draw someone in that league I wanted to get Carshalton again, at home, to see how far we have come since The FA Cup game.

“We’ve had a bit of experience against a team at that level and we’ve played a couple of teams in pre-season so I probably expect them to dominate possession, I expect them to have quality and I expect them to give us a really good game.”

Collins gave his side a night off training last night and says he is delighted with the spirit within his dressing room, as Faversham Town bid to reach The FA Trophy First Round for the first time.

“I think the changing room is the secret, there’s a vibe. “I think we’re all mates, I think we’ve got a real good bond and we actually all look forward to coming to football and they do work hard for each other.

"The supporters’ have been brilliant from the first game they turn up in numbers and they’ve created an atmosphere, which is so good to be around.

“The club, it’s such a nice club, they make you feel welcome and wanted and everyone digs in. We live by our means and everyone digs in and everyone wants to be here and the changing room, I’ll definitely say is the secret.”

Haringey Borough arrive in Kent sitting in ninth-place in the league above with 12 points from seven games and beat Tunbridge Wells 5-1 at home in The FA Cup First Qualifying Round.
