Faversham Town 6-1 Erith & Belvedere - I'm not thinking about the title yet, says Luchford
First half goals from John Paul Collier, Damien Abel, Dale Skelton and Michael Smissen (his 16th goal of the season) were followed in the second with two more from substitute Dave Soutan and Lee Shearer as Faversham Town put down a marker that the chasers may not be able to catch.
Admitedly, Erith & Belvedere, didn't help themselves as Roland Duo and David Conway (who had scored a cracking goal just before half time to reduce the deficit to 4-1) both receive red cards before Adrian Deane and then Tom Binks hobbled off leaving the visitors with seven men and a thumping defeat.
A delighted Faversham boss Justin Luchford told www.kentishfotball.co.uk after the game "Thats been a hell of a week for us. To win 6-2 from two down against Tunbridge Wells last weekend (and again have six different goalscorers); we had a massive win at Deal in midweek and then today, which proved a bit more comfortable than I'd imagined was a great way to claim nine points out of nine after as I saya tough week."
He added: "We changed a few things today to be a bit more positiive and to nullify them and boy whata result we got."
Luchford did have some sympathy for the Deres especially Duo and Conway for their second half red cards.
"Personally" he said, "I think both reds were harsh especially the second one which was a straight red. But that said I did get a bit worried towards the end with the way they kept pulling their players off when they got injured. I let their manager know my feelings but fortunately in the end it didnt matter."
When asked if this now ruled Erith & Belvedere out of the Bulmers Cider Kent League title race, Luchford refused to be drawn.
He said: "We've still got eleven games to go, and if Herne Bay and Hythe win their games in hand it gets all tight again. So I'm not even going to think about titles till we've only got five games left. Until then we'll just focus on every game one at a time - starting next Saturday at Sporting Bengal."
