Faversham Town reluctantly accept Justin Luchford's resignation
Wednesday 30th March 2011
JUSTIN LUCHFORD will take charge of his final Faversham Town game on Saturday afternoon - after the club confirmed this morning that he has resigned as the club’s manager, writes Stephen McCartney.
The decision comes as a shock as The Lilywhites are sitting in eleventh place in the Ryman League Division One South table, with a record of 11 wins, 15 draws (the most in the division) and 10 defeats from 36 games.
Luchford will take charge of his final game, at home to thirteenth-placed Fleet Town on Saturday, before Ray Turner and Clive Walker take charge for the remaining five games of the season.
A club statement said: “Justin Luchford has today resigned as manager of Faversham Town Football Club and the club have, reluctantly, accepted that resignation.
“Justin has been at the club for three and a half years, during which he has guided the club through it’s most successful period in living memory, culminating in last season’s Kent Premier League and Kent Senior Trophy success.
“The club would like to recognise and thank Justin for his continual hard work and enthusiasm during his spell in charge and wish him well for the future.”
Although Luchford’s reasons behind his resignation remain unclear, he did say that he doesn’t have another football job lined up for next season.
“After Saturday’s game, I can look forward but it will be very difficult go get back into football, jobs are hard to come by.” he said.
“Faversham Town gave me a chance of which I am hugely grateful. Whether another club will, is anybody’s guess.”
