Rob Curtis and Luke Haidarovic put in interim charge of Fisher while the club search for a new boss

FISHER begin the search for a new manager after Dean Harrison quit last Tuesday after 18 months in charge.

Chairman Ben Westmancott said: “We understand and accept Dean’s decision and with him and his assistant Jason Birchall all the best for their future endeavours.

“We would like to thank Dean for all his hard work in strengthening the playing squad and contributing to the life of the club.”

“The players have been made aware of the decision and the club are pleased to say that the core of the squad are keen to stay together and continue to move the club forward this season.”

After liaising with senior members of the squad, the club have appointed Rob Curtis and Luke Haidarovic as joint interim managers while the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division club carries out a full recruitment process.

“I am encouraged by the players’ response to the situation,” added Mr Westmancott, whose club finished in the bottom three last season.

“Training sessions will continue as will the programme of pre-season friendlies.”

Curtis was in sole charge of yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at SCEFL1 side Kent Football United because Haidarovic (pictured in action against Canterbury City, below)– who scored two goals in the club’s opening 3-1 friendly win at Crockenhill - was on holiday.

“We are now accepting applications for the permanent role of first-team manager,” added the chairman.

“Club secretary Ian Murphy is keen to make the process as speedy as possible, so any interested parties should email him as soon as possible.”

Candidates are asked to submit a brief statement highlighting the reasons behind their application and what new ideas and experience they would bring to the club, along with a full CV and details of two references.

Candidates must have a coaching certificate, experience of coaching and have an understanding of what makes a community club special.

“As an ambassador of the club you will need to have leadership skills that match the role.”

Fisher run with no playing budget, are a fan owned club and continue their pre-season preparations with a game against Ryman League Division One North side Phoenix Sports on Tuesday night.  The game will take place on Dartford’s Community Pitch at Princes Park Stadium (19:45).

Discussions with Southwark Council continue to progress towards the club moving into the new stadium at St Paul’s in Salter Road, Rotherhithe for the start of the new season.
