We've just got to go to Forest Hill Park with a professional mindset and blow them out of the park, says Fisher boss Ajay Ashanike
FISHER manager Ajay Ashanike says he wants his side to put in a professional performance when they travel to play Forest Hill Park tomorrow.
Fisher’s epic eight-game run in The FA Cup was ended by a professional performance from Vanarama National League South side Welling United, who came away from St Paul’s Stadium with a 3-0 win in The FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay on Tuesday night.
Warren Feeney’s side were held to a goal-less draw by Fisher in Saturday’s game and club officials have revealed that they have made an official approach for Fisher’s centre-half Joseph Adewunmi, 20, who impressed during the two games.
Fisher beat Sussex side Oakwood 3-2 at home in the last round of The FA Vase, while Darrell Queeley’s men came away from Worthing United with a 3-1 win to set up this derby in the Second Qualifying Round.
Forest Hill Park go into the game sitting in eleventh-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with seven points from five games.
“Darrell was my assistant manager at Tower Hamlets so he’s someone I know really well and he knows me really well,” said Ashanike.
“My boys have got to show the same level as they shown on Tuesday night, over the two games that we played against Welling United.
“We can’t take them lightly because Welling took us lightly and look what happened on Saturday, so we’ve just got to go there with a professional mindset and absolutely blow them out of the park.”
Fisher return to Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division action next Tuesday (19:45), when league leaders Erith & Belvedere come to Rotherhithe.
Tony Beckingham’s side are currently top of the pile with six wins out of six, while Fisher are at the foot of the table with two points from their five league outings.
Ashanike said: “It’s first v last for that game. The boys have just got to make sure that they’re actually switched on and be able to compete. If they can compete, they can beat anyone in this league and we’re not scared of anyone in this league. All we have to do is compete and come with the right mindset and just believe in it and if we believe in the tactics and listen really well, we’ll come out on top.”
Ashanike wants his side to take their FA Cup heroics into the bread and butter of league football.
“I’m not in a panic station, I’m not really panicking at all. They’ve just got to listen to what we have to say and it will come good.”
