FISHER manager Allan Fenn says he will wield the axe after finding out his players were out on the lash at the Notting Hill Carnival yesterday.

 

Fisher suffered a 3-1 home defeat to AFC Croydon Athletic at St Paul’s today, in temperatures of over 30 degrees.

Kevin Rayner’s side came away from Herne Bay with a 2-2 draw in The FA Cup Preliminary Round at the weekend and were worthy winners in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division clash today.

In a statement posted on Twitter to Fisher’s supporters, a furious Fenn said: “I apologise for our performance today! Found out that half the lads went on the piss at the weekend.

“I’ll never hide and I can handle defeat but when everyone has worked so hard to get ready for today, for those who let us down, is gutting.

“You lot (the fans), us, we deserve better than to let Sunday morning attitudes to let us down.

“Big changes coming up!

“Congratulations to Kevin Rayner and his lads who after a superb performance on Saturday matched it today with their sheer desire and commitment.  They were worthy winners.

“I’ll start again every week with new players if I have to. I’ve been taken for a mug and it ain’t ever happening again!

“It was (Notting Hill) Carnival weekend and most of the lads’ were there.”

Fisher sit in fourteenth-place in the table with four points from as many games, while AFC Croydon Athletic have risen to the top eight with seven points from four league outings.

Fisher travel to Canterbury City on Saturday 31 August (15:00), while the Rams travel to league rivals Sheppey United in The Buildbase FA Vase First Qualifying Round.
