I have spoken to a few managers in their league, who have said Kennington are very good, so we will have to be at our best to get a result, says Fisher boss Ajay Ashanike

FISHER manager Ajay Ashanike says his side will have to be at their best to stop Kennington in their tracks in The FA Vase First Round tomorrow.

Dan Scorer’s side have won six out of six in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table, scoring 27 goals in the process and they humiliated Shoreham 7-0 in the last round of the competition.

Sporting Club Thamesmead rose to the summit after their 4-1 win over Forest Hill Park on Monday night, which puts Aaron Jeffery’s side three points clear of second-placed Kennington, who do have a couple of games in hand.

Fisher, meanwhile, travel to Ashford on the back of a goal-less draw at home to Deal Town last weekend, a result that has them in 12^th place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 15 points from their 11 league outings.

“Kennington are a team we don’t know much about,” said Ashanike.

“We didn’t get a chance to scout them as they played every time we played. The only thing we know is that they will be a good side and they are scoring loads of goals, which we have to be aware of.

“I have spoken to a few managers in their league, who have said they are very good, so we will have to be at our best to get a result.

“With my squad hit with a high injury list, it will make it harder but I’m sure the boys coming in should be able to cope with whatever they throw at us.

“Our last game against Deal Town was a game I felt we should have won but their keeper was on top form on the day.

“Positives out of the game was a clean-sheet, something we have always worked on so I’m happy we kept another one.”
