Fisher boss Gary Lisney pulls off Dan Young transfer coup
Monday 02nd August 2010
FISHER boss Gary Lisney has explained that contacts has enable him to pull off the summer transfer coup of former Margate defender Dan Young, writes Stephen McCartney.
Kent League followers were surprised that Young has dropped down from the Ryman Premier to sign for an amateur side.
“As the current Fisher manager I can confirm without any doubt whatsoever that the current Fisher team DO NOT get paid a single penny - either officially or un-officially,” Lisney told www.kentleagueforum.com.
“I am aware of the club’s history, and to be fair given our track record over recent years, it is not surprising that speculation arises when we make a good signing.
“However, we are now a supporters’ owned and run club struggling to meet the financial requirements of the Kent League - let alone any league higher.
“Nobody at the club receives any money for their time at all - that includes the club and team management, support staff and players.
“However, just so everyone is aware of the situation regarding Danny Young.
“Danny is a good friend of Bryan Glover, the Fisher assistant manager, and has agreed to register with us. Simple as that really!”
Fisher, who pay landlords Dulwich Hamlet £300 per game to play at Champion Hill Stadium, kick-off their Kent League campaign against local rivals Greenwich Borough on Saturday.
The Fish then travel to Corinthian (14 August) - the only Kent League fixture due to other sides competing in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, before having a blank Saturday the following weekend, as the Kent League finally publish their second week’s fixtures, albeit seven games.
