Fisher unveil Simon Halsey as their new joint-manager

FISHER have confirmed that Simon Halsey has joined the club to become joint-manager with present boss Billy Walton.

Halsey has been out of football management since parting company from the club’s Southern Counties East Football League rivals Lordswood on 16 March 2014.

Prior to that, Halsey was in charge at Herne Bay, where he guided the club to the FA Vase Semi-Finals in 2012 before going on to win the Kent League title after celebrating back-to-back Kent League Cup Final wins during his successful reign at Winch’s Field.

He was in charge of the club’s inaugural Ryman League campaign before he was axed with only two league games of the season remaining - on 18 April 2013.

Rainham-based Halsey, a UEFA B Licenced coach, guided Whitstable Town to their one and only Kent League title back in 2007 when he was assistant manager to Marc Seager.

Halsey tweeted the news to his followers this morning, by saying, “Over the moon to announce I have joined Fisher FC as joint-manager.”

A club statement said: “Simon Halsey volunteered his services to work with our manager Billy Walton on preparations for the new season.

“Fisher were very happy to accept this offer of help from Simon, who share’s Billy’s desire to play attractive, attacking football and has great experience in the Southern Counties East Football League, previously the Kent League.

“The Fisher board are in discussions with Billy about formalising the coaching and management team and will make a further announcement in due course following our next scheduled board meeting.

“In the meantime, Billy and Simon will be working together to prepare the Fisher squad for the new campaign.”

Last season Walton guided the club to fourteenth-place (bottom four) in the Southern Counties East Football League table with 7 wins and 7 draws from their 32 league games.

The club have been in exile for ten years and hire Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill Stadium in East Dulwich.

Fisher have launched an appeal to help bring the club back home to Rotherhithe, with plans to turn St Paul’s Playing Fields into a state-of-the-art 3G playing surface.
