Folkestone Invicta have almost covered their financial shortfall for the season, reveals Neil Cugley
FOLKESTONE INVICTA’S head of football development/operations Neil Cugley says the club have almost covered their financial shortfall for this season.
Cugley stepped down as first-team manager at Cheriton Road in October to look after off-the-field financial matters and Roland Edge and Micheal Everitt stepped up to take charge of team affairs.
The club are currently sitting in thirteenth-place in the Isthmian League Premier Division table, having collected 32 points from their 22 games.
Folkestone Invicta attracted a crowd of 1,179 for their 4-0 home win over Margate on Monday 2 January 2023.
Ben Greenhalgh and Reece Prestedge have both been placed in interim charge by the Hartsdown Park club after Margate parted company with Andy Drury on Boxing Day.
“I am pleased to inform you that following numerous meetings and discussions with various new local sponsors, we have almost covered the financial shortfall for the 2022-23 football season,” Cugley told the club website.
“November and December were difficult times as this shortfall was unexpected and could not be forecasted.
“This financial investment means that we do not have to release key players and deplete the quality of our current squad.
“This is good news for Micheal Everitt and Roland Edge and the unsung heroes who work hard behind the scenes at Folkestone Invicta.
“I would like to thank the match sponsors, as every game has been sold and well attended and brings further revenue to the club.
“Also the club must not forget our dedicated supporters for their ongoing loyal support and it was great to see a crowd of 1,179 at Monday’s game.”
Cugley is keen to hear from potential investors for the part-time club that play in the seventh-tier of English football.
“Folkestone Invicta would still welcome anyone who thinks they can support the club to move forward, assist financially or have an interest in being a director. Please contact the club for further discussions," added Cugley.
Folkestone Invicta’s next two league games are away from home, at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday (7 January, 15:00) and Hastings United (Tuesday 10 January, 19:45) and return home on Saturday 14 January (15:00) for the visit of Billericay Town.
