Folkestone Invicta fans' play their heroes to raise money for injured striker Paul Jones

FOLKESTONE INVICTA supporters’ will face their very own players at Cheriton Road tonight to raise money for an operation for injured striker Paul Jones.



A selection of Folkestone Invicta stars will take on by the very fans’ who support them from the terraces week in, week out.

A club statement, which was published on the club’s website www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk, said: “Jonesy has always been a fully loyal and committed player for Invicta, where unfortunately he suffered an injury which has caused him to be somewhat absent from the club this season.

“This event, organised by the supporters, will hopefully not only cover his operation fees but also show he has not been forgotten by the fans and players of our football club and is still a highly respected player.”

The supporters’ XI line-up will be managed by Folkestone Invicta’s Disability’s Geraint Wilson.

The match will be refereed by first team manager Neil Cugley.

Gates open from 6pm, with kick-off at 7pm.  The match will be 30 minutes each way due to the significantly lesser fitness levels of the Supporters XI.

The statement added: “This is a great cause and will mean a lot to an Invicta legend.”

Entry is FREE, but donation buckets will be around the ground for those who wish to make a contribution of any size.
