Folkestone Invicta sign Brendon Cass from Chatham Town
Friday 05th March 2010
AFTER confirming to www.kentishfootball.co.uk on Tuesday night that striker James Dryden has received a settlement from the club to pay up his contract, Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley has wasted no time in signing a "replacement", as he last night secured the services of Chatham Town striker Brendon Cass, writes Mike Green.
Cass, who despite enduring a frustrating season for the Medway club, for whom he is the top scorer with 11 league goals - the last of which was ironically enough against Folkestone 10 days ago, makes the journey down the M20 as Cugley bids to strengthen Invicta's promotion push despite their recent points deduction.
Chatham boss Alex O'Brien told www.kentishfotoball.co.uk, "Brendon told me that he was sad to go and feels like he is somehow letting us down, which shows how committed he was to our cause, but in all fairness Folkestone have offered him a good deal, and I'm sure he will do them very well."
O'Brien went on, "For him to have second thoughts like that just shows what Cass is all about - that is the salt of the man!
"He’s very honest and a has always been a great team player as well as goal scorer! He’s been great for us and we wish him good luck for the future."I know Brendon will score goals at Cheriton Road, and will do well for them, as he is a terrific player. I’d just like to wish him good luck and thanks for everything.
"That obviously leaves us a player light in the striking front but I am hoping that we may get someone in time for the home game this weekend against Whyteleafe, or if not in time for next week. Chatham also confirmed that also moving on is Luke May.O’Brien said, "Luke has found it hard to move the lads in the centre of the park and is desperate to play week in week out, which is what you want as a player, so Luke is going elsewhere to find that. Luke’s attitude has been spot on for us and we wish him luck in the future!"
