Folkestone Invicta take Dryden off transfer list

Friday 23rd January 2009

FOLKESTONE INVICTA boss Neil Cugley revealed that after talks with striker James Dryden, the club’s record goal scorer, is staying at the Buzzlines Stadium and has now been taken off the transfer list, writes Tom Marchant.

“We’ve spoke (on Thursday night) and when he put the request in he was a bit disillusioned, but to be fair he’s trained well in the last couple of weeks and he seems keen to do well again,” explained Cugley, when speaking to www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk.

“He is contracted with us until the end of next season and we will review the situation again at the end of this season when we know what’s happening with the football club.

“I’m very pleased he’s staying and winning does help and the last few matches we haven’t played too badly and we are improving and I think he can see that.

“We hope now he will get his head right and start scoring goals again like we know he is more than capable of.”

Cugley was also buoyed by the news that James Everitt looks almost certain to be able to take his place in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Burgess Hill Town.

Cugley spoke to Steve Lovell about the West Sussex outfit, as his Ashford Town side beat them
4-1 last weekend.

“He did say they play some good stuff and it was perhaps a case of his side scoring at the right time. We have got to score more goals though and we know that and with Jimmy staying, I think having a settled side can only help that,” added Cugley.
