Ford pleased with Wings' character
WELLING UNITED boss Andy Ford has been pleased with his side’s character, following their disastrous FA Cup exit at the hands of Whyteleafe, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Wings were dumped out of the FA Cup at the first stage, going down 2-0 to the Ryman One South side in a second qualifying round replay at Church Road.
But two wins in the Blue Square South over Bishop’s Stortford and on Saturday against Weston-Super-Mare has pleased the boss.
“That’s two wins back to back and it’s a great way to come back after the disappointment of the cup game,” Ford told www.wellingunited.com.
“I think it just showed a bit of character in the squad. Two wins and two clean sheets was required.”
The Wings welcome St Albans City to Park View Road tomorrow night. Eighth place Wings are just six points behind leaders, Chelmsford City in the Blue Square South table and their Hertfordshire opponents are just two places and three points lower.
