Frannie Collin is not going to Dartford, confirms Tonbridge Angels boss Tommy Warrilow

Dartford manager Tony Burman says he is delighted for Charlie Sheringham after he joined League One side Bournemouth.

Sheringham's 12 goals has helped the Burman's third-placed side move to within one point of leaders Woking at the top of the Blue Square Bet South.

The Darts boss told BBC Radio Kent: "We are all delighted for him because he was a good player and a very intelligent footballer."

"Then again I'm disappointed that I've lost a quality player."

Burman says Dartford were first contacted about three weeks ago and Sheringham had been notified of the negotiations.

"Bournemouth's offer was reluctantly accepted but you just don't want to stand in a players way when something like that happens," he said.

Sheringham is the third player in recent years to make the step up to League football after Cody McDonald's move to Norwich and Dave Martin's switch to Crystal Palace.

"It's a credit to my coaching staff really, we've worked with the players and at the end of the day it's down to hard work," added Burman.

But the Darts boss says he will not make any rash signings with the money raised from the sale.

"I'm not going to rush into it because people think that now I've got a little bit of money I have to go out and spend," he added.

"I want to strengthen my squad but I'm in no rush to do so."

Meanwhile, Tonbridge Angels striker Frannie Collin is staying at Longmead, according to manager Tommy Warrilow.

Following Sheringham's move from Dartford to Bournemouth yesterday, Warrilow quashed rumours linking Collin with a transfer to Princes Park.

Warrilow told BBC Radio Kent: "We spoke to him last night about the connection with Dartford and Frannie doesn't want to go anywhere.

"He's happy he's staying and I wanted to bring it out into the open."

Warrilow added: "There's been a lot of talk about him replacing Charlie and we're just getting on with our league campaign."

Collin is the top scorer in the Blue Square Bet South this season with 12 goals.

Warrilow has previously stated that he wouldn't stand in Collin's way should a path to professional football emerge and reiterated that the 24-year-old has what it takes to play at a higher level.

"I've seen a few comments regarding Frannie and I believe he is as good as the people who have moved on.

"If he keeps his head down, I'm sure he can follow Charlie into the professional game," he said.

Having been promoted from the Ryman Premier League in 2011, Tonbridge are lying mid-table in their first season in the Blue Square Bet South.

Warrilow highlighted that Tonbridge have the potential to develop into a fixture in the league and that Collin had little cause to look elsewhere.

"He's enjoying his football, he gets looked after and it's a good club. Our gates are up, the surroundings are good, the facilities we give the boys are good and they get looked after.

"We realise that we're not as big as Dover or Dartford but we're trying to get there."

Tonbridge are set to add two new faces to their squad ahead of this weekend's match at home to Basingstoke Town.

Striker Kayne McLaggon and full-back Michael Boeteng are poised to join the Angels on one-month loan deals from Bristol Rovers.
