Gary Abbott parts company with Sittingbourne
Wednesday 25th May 2011
GARY ABBOTT has parted company with Sittingbourne by “mutual consent”, writes Stephen McCartney. The Brickies confirmed in January that their playing budget was pulled 100% due to a debut of £20,000, which resulted in the club losing a vast majority of their squad and relying on academy players from Blue Square Bet South side Dartford.
Despite this, however, Abbott led the team to a creditable eleventh place in Ryman League Division One South.
A club statement published on the official website www.sittingbournefc.co.uk said: “The club would like to thank Gary for all that he has done for them especially with the budget restrictions that he was working under for the latter part of the 2010-11 season and we wish him well for the future."
Abbott’s assistant, Richard Brady, meanwhile, was unveiled as the club’s new manager today.
