Gary Davies quits as Holmesdale boss

Tuesday 13th September 2011
HOLMESDALE chairman Mark Harris has explained his reasons behind parting company with manager Gary Davies last Friday, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Bromley based side opened their Kent Hurlimann Football League season with a 2-1 win over Sevenoaks Town, but crashed to a 5-0 defeat to Beckenham Town in their next game.

They lost 3-1 to Sussex County League side Shoreham in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, and then they lost league games to VCD Athletic (0-3) and tenants Greenwich Borough (0-1), before a 5-1 defeat at Fisher was the final straw, and Davies is the first Kent League managerial casualty of the new season.

Mr Harris issued the following statement on the club’s website.

“Following the recent run of disappointing results the first team manager Gary Davies has offered his resignation which after careful consideration the Holmesdale committee has accepted,” he said.

“The club would like to express our thanks to Gary and his family for the hard work undertaken over the last two years and wish him well in the future.”

Fabio Rossi has now been appointed as first team manager and his first game in charge was a 1-0 defeat to Kent League rivals Erith Town in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase at the weekend.
