Gillingham cancel trip to Dartford after a few players test positive for Covid-19 while Dartford welcome Sittingbourne for hastily-arranged Princes Park warm-up
DARTFORD’S pre-season friendly against Gillingham on Tuesday night has been cancelled.
“The first-team players were all tested yesterday for Covid-19 and sadly a few players have tested positive,” said a statement from League One side Gillingham.
“Although those players who tested positive, most, if not all, are sympton free, they will now isolate in line with NHS guidelines.
“The remainder of the small first-team squad who tested negative will report for training as normal.”
Gillingham added that they have also suspended ticket sales for Friday’s game against Queens Park Rangers until further notice and a meeting will take place tomorrow and will provide fans’ with further updates.
Dartford, meanwhile, has filled the void and shall welcome Isthmian League South East Division side Sittingbourne on Tuesday night (19:45).
"We are extremely grateful to them for agreeing to travel to Princes Park and play us at very short notice," said a statement from the Vanarama National League South club.
"All tickets purchased for the original fixture (Gillingham) will be valid for those that still wish to attend.
